Since the collapse of Somali state in 1991, ordinary Somali citizens relied on each other and the Diaspora. Together they inherited to play the role of the government be it in the education, health, economic sector or providing the basic social services.
Education opportunities for children in Somalia became unavailable and nonexistence. Community based organizations such as Adar Foundation stepped in to fill the vacuum left with absence of a government.

Adar Foundation funds elementary school in a village in Somalia. In collaboration with Himilio Relief and Development Association (HIRDA), Adar Foundation has managed to fund Sarinley Primary School which currently has student body of 122 students with over 400 children on waiting list due to lack of funding to hire more trained teachers.

Adar Foundation also played a vital role in the establishment of Bardhere High School that was funded and managed by HIRDA.

In addition, Adar Foundation granted scholarship to three students to pursue higher education at the Mogadishu University in Somalia.

Adar Foundation is involved in alleviating the humanitarian crisis within Somalia, and addresses the Millennium Development Goals.

Adar Foundation also started colloboration with Dr. Hawa Abdi Foundation. Dr. Hawa Abdi was mentioned as one of the heroes uner the radar in Adar Foundation's co-founder testimonty of June 17, 2010 hearing on Somalia's humanitarian crisis and impact on women and children that took place at the US Congress's foreign affairs commitee.
